He has been carving pipes for about 30 years now, and produces about 1000 pipes every year. Before pipe carving, he was a sculptor, and this is greatly reflected in his pipes. The stems especially show is roots in sculpting. He uses Grecian Plateau and Ebauchon briar, treating them with hot oil to enhance their beauty and smoking quality.
