"GOOD COMPANY"
FEATURING
ARNS WINERY • JOSEPH PHELPS VINEYARDS
ROSENTHAL - THE MALIBU ESTATE • WHITEHALL LANE WINERY

Dear Wine Associates:

We'll all be in "GOOD COMPANY" when you join us on Thursday, October 5, 2000, for an exciting seminar featuring the wonderful wines and representatives of Arns Winery, Joseph Phelps Vineyards, Rosenthal - The Malibu Estate and Whitehall Lane Winery. The evening will be jam-packed with new releases, preview showings and just good wines.

ARNS WINERY, co-owned by talented vineyardist John Arns and our accomplished friend Sandi Belcher (winemaker at Long Vineyards for the past 23 years), is located in the premium Howell Mountain area of Napa Valley. Their absolutely stunning Cabernet Sauvignons have been extremely well-received since their 1993 vintage debut. Their 1997 release is a jewel of bold flavors, supple texture and refined elegance. Depending on harvest schedules, either John or Sandi will be in our company this evening. Sandi has been here many times previously, but this would be John's first time. We'll be delighted to welcome either one of them.

JOSEPH PHELPS VINEYARDS, founded by Joe Phelps in 1972, is located in the beautiful Spring Valley area of St. Helena. From the very beginning, he has produced superb Napa Valley wines displaying his innovative spirit and passion for quality. He pioneered a number of "firsts" in the early years of the winery. The 1974 Insignia was the first Bordeaux-style blend produced in California under a proprietary label. The release of his 1974 Syrah sparked industry-wide interest in this Rhone varietal whose plantings in California had disappeared for over half a century. Phelps' personable President and C.E.O. TOM SHELTON will bring his good company as well as that of their intriguing array of Rhone varietals, a pre-release of their 1998 Insignia (with a "futures" offering) and the debut of their spectacular and limited 1997 Backus Cabernet Sauvignon (you will have the opportunity to purchase this rarity).

ROSENTHAL - THE MALIBU ESTATE, the beautiful vineyard property of George & Karen Rosenthal, is located off Kanan Road in the Malibu Hills of Southern California. Since their first vintage in 1991, their distinctive, rich and complex Cabernet Sauvignons and Merlots have been extremely popular. Their wines are currently being produced at Baileyana Winery in Edna Valley by a dynamic winemaker, our friend Christian Roguenant (formerly of Maison Deutz and Laetitia). We are delighted to have the company of both George and Karen as well as Christian to help us present the new Rosenthal releases of Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

WHITEHALL LANE WINERY, owned since 1993 by Tom Leonardini, sits in the heart of Napa Valley's Rutherford appellation. The winery is producing a diverse portfolio of exceptional wines, many of which have received the highest accolades. In fact, in December of 1998, their 1995 Reserve Cabaret Sauvignon was selected as the #5 red wine in the world by Wine Spectator ...the highest-ranked California Cabernet Sauvignon! Tom's son, Tom Leonardini, Jr., is Whitehall Lane's National Sales Manager. He helped us introduce their wines at a Wine Association event two years ago and we are delighted to have him back in our company to present their newly released gems.
