"NEW!"
Featuring
MARGERUM * MELVILLE * ORIGIN-NAPA * ORTMAN * TWOMEY

Dear Wine Associates:

We are delighted to invite you to join us at our next seminar on Thursday, May 1, 2003 a meaningful date to us, as it is the 36th Anniversary day of the founding of the DUKE OF BOURBON! Last year, we had a big party. . . this year, we will have a small one with an exciting collection of "NEW!" wines from new or young wineries. Joining us for this special evening will be DOUG MARGERUM of Margerum Wine Company, STEPHEN JANES of MELVILLE WINERY, BILL DAVIES of ORIGIN-NAPA and CHUCK ORTMAN, of ORTMAN FAMILY VINEYARDS.

Long-time friend Doug Margerum, Santa Barbara merchant, restaurateur and now vintner in Los Olivos, will present three critically acclaimed upcoming releases from his NEW Margerum Wine Company. Believe us, these intriguing, very limited-production wines are really tops! Doug's "garagiste" philosophy is to return winemaking to its previous form of production - hand-crafted and personal.

Melville Vineyards and Winery, owned by the Ron Melville family, is located in the Santa Rita Hills appellation of Santa Barbara county. Wait until you taste their NEW beauties! These Burgundian and Northern Rhone varietals are produced by Greg Brewer, who is the "Brewer" in Brewer-Clifton (Robert Parker called Brewer-Clifton 2000 Pinot Noirs among the finest New World Pinots he has ever tasted!). Stephen Janes is Melville's knowledgeable and personable Sales Manager.

ORIGIN-NAPA is a NEW project by Bill Davies and Tom Gamble. Bill is the son of Jack & Jamie Davies of Schramsberg. Tom's family has been growing grapes in Napa Valley for almost 100 years. These two childhood friends have produced two absolutely super wines presented with creative and nostalgic packaging.

Chuck Ortman was a Napa Valley pioneer in the late '60's and, in the mid '70's and '80's, helped produce some of Napa Valley's finest wines. Approximately 15 years ago, chuck became the founding winemaker and general manager of Meridian Vineyards in Paso Robles. As chuck was planning his retirement from Meridian, his son, Matt, and daughter-in-law, Lisa, convinced him to team up with them to create the ORTMAN Family Vineyards, where they are producing excellent wines from both the Central Coast and the Napa Valley.

In addition to the exciting selections from our four winery guests, we will have the premier showing of the impressive Twomey 2000 Merlot, which is produced by the owners of Silver Oak Winery in Napa Valley. This is a stunning slam-dunk winner reminiscent of a great Pomerol!

Knowing us, you can bet we will have a SURPRISE OR TWO in store to make this an even more memorable evening.
