Dalla Valle 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon (RP 90-92)
As always, a sleekly sophisticated wine with impressive structure and velvety fruit. A quote from Parker: "The deep ruby/purple-colored 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon offers up aromas of minerals, licorice, acacia flowers, blackberries, and cassis. In 1996, Leslie Rudd purchased a 55-acre parcel near Oakville flanked by the renowned vineyards of Dalla Valle, Opus One, Harlan Estate, Screaming Eagle, Phelps Backus and Silver Oak. He had realized his 30-year dream of owning a winery in the Napa Valley. Silver Oak is a name that conjures up the memories of sweet fruit, sweet oak and a finish that has to be experienced. Winemaker Daniel Baron's notes: " The 1999 Silver Oak Napa Valley is a deep, rich Cabernet Sauvignon with a garnet color and a concentrated nose of cocoa, cassis syrup, coffee, and black licorice.
