Shafer 2004 Chardonnay, Red Shoulder Ranch
Named for the hawk that patrols the vineyards for pests, Red Shoulder Chardonnay has garnered praise and high ratings (RP 91-93, WS 94) from the wine writers. The wine is a full-bodied fruit bowl of flavor with an underlying core of crisp acidity integrated with layers of toasty oak and a long, lingering finish that makes it the total package. - Duke's price - $42.50 per bottle

Shafer 2003 Merlot
Given an impressive 90 points by Parker, who commented, "An elegant blend of 85% Merlot and nearly equal portions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, it possesses a refined deep ruby/purple color along with scents of berry fruit, sweet cherries, and hints of smoke and mocha," this 20th release of Shafer Merlot is full-throttled without being over-the-top. - Duke's price - $45.00 per bottle
