Cambodia is in a difficult phase, both economically and socially speaking. Cambodians are among the poorest people in the world and are trying to rebuild their country after most of the governmental and social structures were destroyed by Communist purges. Women are especially hard hit. Many of the younger women remain uneducated as they care for siblings or are required to go to work to support the family. Thousands of others have been lured or forced into brothels and end up trapped in that life. There is little or no government support to correct this horrendous situation.

Please join Heidi, John, the Duke and members of The Wine Association, along with Robert Simon, owner of the renowned Bistro 45 in Pasadena, on Wednesday, August 29, as they present a Winemaker's Dinner featuring the fabulous food of the Bistro and the incredible wines of Heidi Barrett. Heidi's credentials as a winemaker are unequaled. Under Robert's and Executive Chef Damon Brady's guiding hands, Bistro 45 has 17 years of outstanding reviews from Zagat and is on the Wine Spectator's list of "Ten Best Restaurants and Wine Lists in Los Angeles. " This is a combination that you must not miss! We will also have a short auction of unique, premium wine and life-style items during dinner. Currently, auction items include Screaming Eagle, Coup de Foudre, collector lithographs from Amuse Bouche and other goodies. Proceeds of both the dinner and the auction will go to benefit American Assistance for Cambodia. The causes that will benefit most are Girls be Ambitious (an anti-trafficking program) and Bright Future Kids Home.
