Delas Cotes du Rhone, 2007 Saint-Esprit (en magnum) is back!
The Duke found this tremendous wine bargain four years ago. Your response to the original offering and those of subsequent vintages was strong and now we can tell you that the new vintage is available.
Cotes du Rhone is in the northern Rhone Valley near the area where Chateauneuf du Pape is made. The outstanding Delas Winery is owned by the Louis Roederer family who produces the famed Cristal Champagne. In the current issue of the Wine Advocate, Parker raves about the winery: " . . . their Cotes du Rhone St.-Esprit ranks alongside the offerings from Guigal and Chapoutier."
Parker had some very nice things to say about the wine as he awarded it 90 points: "The amazing 2007 Cotes du Rhone St.-Esprit (75% Syrah and 25% Grenache) reveals a northern Rhone orientation, but it is loaded with spice and black fruits, and displays a beautiful opulent texture as well as a gorgeous finish with impressive purity. Chateauneuf du Pape has also benefitted from the new attention to detail and upgraded quality. The good news is that there are about 1,500 cases of this cuvee."
It is a classy, beautiful package as well, with a traditional Rhone crest embossed on the bottle. Looks great on your table and is perfect as a hostess gift, too!
Now, let's talk about our terrific price. Keep in mind that we are talking magnum (pictured) here and a terrific nod from the wine writers. This wine is a bargain at the regular list price of $28.50 each. The Duke sharpened his pencil and is discounting that to just $21.99 for each magnum. Order 6 (the equivalent of a full case of wine) and we will discount it even further to $119.94 (that's just $19.99 per 1.5L bottle).
