IRON HORSE 2006 "UNOAKED" CHARDONNAY, GREEN VALLEY
THE NEW GO-TO WHITE FOR SPRING

We have always had a close relationship with Joy Sterling and the wines of her family's Iron Horse Vineyards. In recent conversations with Joy, we developed a very special program for their 2006 "Unoaked" Chardonnay and we are delighted to offer it to you at a fabulous low price!

Joy's notes tell us that this go-to white wine for spring is "a pure expression of cool climate Green Valley Chardonnay - very, very pretty nose, clean, bright and mineraly with vibrant, sweet-tart Gravenstein apple, complex citrus with hints of tangerine and lime. The hallmark of quality of this wine is the smooth texture, remarkable for a wine that sees no ML [malolactic] and no lees stirring."

This 2006 bottling has "pure taste of place. Green Valley is one of the smallest AVAs of California's North Coast. It lies entirely within the Russian River. Most people see it as a sub-appellation, but it is, in fact, its own federally recognized AVA defined as the coolest, foggiest part of the Russian River Valley. Iron Horse produces the signature Chardonnays of Green Valley. This one is like drinking the fog."

Wine & Spirits Magazine awarded the 2005 vintage 93 points. Wine Enthusiast awarded it 91 points in their August issue. The 2006 is just as good and was named as a Best Buy in Wine & Spirits.

Joy Sterling says, "I think we excel at this wonderful style because of our expertise in making Sparkling Wines. In fact, the section of vineyard used for this Chardonnay is the same as the one we used to count on for our vintage Blanc de Blancs."
