Jim Adelman, Au Bon Climat/Qupé General Manager, describes this as "a true, classic Burgundian Pinot Noir." This namesake of Jim & Morgan Clendenen's son is produced from plantings in their Bien Nacido vineyard. It is more intense than the 1998 version with leesy and cherry characters and a real feel of the "terrior."

The second in our series of Duke of Bourbon winemaker dinners presented in partnership with the Four Season Hotel in Beverly Hills will be held on Monday, May 21, 2001. The hotel's elegant Gardens Restaurant will be the setting for the world-class cuisine of Executive Chef Conny Andersson matched with the outstanding wines of Iron Horse Vineyards. hat a coup! We're so excited to be one of the few select retailers to offer the KAHN WINERY 1999 CAB FRANK! This limited-edition wine features a self-portrait by the late Frank Sinatra which depicts him as a clown. Kahn Winery partners Andrew Kahn and Christian Gavin created this very delicious and fruity Cabernet Franc in honor of Mr. Sinatra, whose songs have played an important part in their lives. In fact, they played Sinatra albums at all stages of the winemaking process. This project has received the blessing of the Sinatra Family and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Frank Sinatra Foundation, which supports a variety of educational causes.

Kahn Winery, founded in 1996 in Santa Barbara County, produces several other intriguing wines, including the two Rhône blends we have just acquired. 1999 Cuvée Jacques White, a blend of 50% Viognier and 50% Marsanne, has a fruity and floral nose and is a delicious replacement for Chardonnay. 1998 Cuvée Jacques Red is a very approachable blend of Grenache, Merlot and Syrah from the Santa Ynez Valley that goes well with any meal, be it Chicken Picatta or Porterhouse Steak. Try these delightful wines now and look for future releases from the dynamic young Kahn duo.

Jarvis 1997 Blending Kit - $250
 Imagine being able to blend the equivalent style of Pétrus, Château Cheval Blanc or even Château Margaux. Well, with the Jarvis 1997 Blending Kit, you can!

Designed by winery owner, William Jarvis, this kit provides you with the same opportunity that a winemaker has to experience the fine art of blending Bordeaux varietals. Enclosed in the kit, you will find a 375ml bottle of all five of the Bordeaux red wine blending varietals (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec) from Jarvis' storied 1997 vintage, two blending cylinders used to perform blending exercises similar to those done by winemakers and a Xyliss Wine Opener. The only thing you will need is a few wine glasses with a capacity of at least 4 ounces each (check out the Riedel Crystal glasses later on this page!).

It also comes with notes regarding each varietal and a sheet with the percentages of each wine that was in the blend of Cheval Blanc, Pétrus, Margaux and Château Mouton-Rothschild, along with the breakdown of the incredible Jarvis 1997 Lake William Bordeaux blend. So you can make a blend of these special wines or just have a great time making your own blend. Can be shipped where permissible.
