Bordeaux 2000 Futures Offering...
The Excitement Builds! We are pleased to offer "futures" of the highly acclaimed wines from the 2000 vintage in Bordeaux. We have seen a terrific response so far from our e-mail offerings. We want to make sure that everyone is informed about these great wines!

According to Robert M. Parker, Jr. in his Wine Advocate, "the 2000 vintage has produced some of the most immense, black-colored, concentrated, powerful and tannic wines of the last thirty years. Moreover, the finest 2000s possess the most impressive length, structure, concentration and delineation that I have experienced in 23 years of tasting new Bordeaux vintages."

James Suckling of Wine Spectator has stated that the 2000 vintage "...could be a new beginning for Bordeaux, a global relaunching of what I believe is the greatest wine region in the world. This is Bordeaux's big chance...".

Welcome to the debut of the 1998 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Calistoga Cuvée, also known as "Good things come to those who wait." Those of you who enjoyed previous vintages of this wine will be very pleased with the improvements that have been achieved... and we hope you will agree they have been worth the wait!

Chateau Montelena Winemaker Bo Barrett is enthusiastic about this wine: "The Cabernet Sauvignon we saw from the Calistoga area was literally perfect; great flavors and ripeness with very good fruit chemistry... the good growers have lowered the crop levels, we upgraded from large cask to small French oak barrels in our new aging caves and provided many more months of bottle aging prior to release. And, we've allowed the wine to grow to its potential during the fermentation and cellar development stages."

We are pleased to present a special "blind" wine tasting seminar featuring many top California Cabernet Sauvignons from the 1998 vintage on Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at the Warner Center Marriott in Woodland Hills.

Our "Interactive Mystery Cabernet Sauvignon Seminar" will give you an opportunity to let your palate be your guide and judge for yourself the great taste and quality of many wines from some top California wineries. A minimum of 12 wines will be poured. Selections will be from such wineries as Chateau Montelena, Duckhorn Vineyards, Robert Mondavi, Shafer and Stag's Leap Wine Cellars. We are planning a few special twists and we are sure that you will be intrigued.

The wines will be tasted in "flights" of three. The event will be "interactive" with YOU as the guest discussing the wines and what your feelings are regarding them.

hat a coup! We're so excited to be one of the few select retailers to offer the KAHN WINERY 1999 CAB FRANK! This limited-edition wine features a self-portrait by the late Frank Sinatra which depicts him as a clown. Kahn Winery partners Andrew Kahn and Christian Gavin created this very delicious and fruity Cabernet Franc in honor of Mr. Sinatra, whose songs have played an important part in their lives. In fact, they played Sinatra albums at all stages of the winemaking process. This project has received the blessing of the Sinatra Family and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Frank Sinatra Foundation, which supports a variety of educational causes.

Kahn Winery, founded in 1996 in Santa Barbara County, produces several other intriguing wines, including the two Rhône blends we have just acquired. 1999 Cuvée Jacques White, a blend of 50% Viognier and 50% Marsanne, has a fruity and floral nose and is a delicious replacement for Chardonnay. 1998 Cuvée Jacques Red is a very approachable blend of Grenache, Merlot and Syrah from the Santa Ynez Valley that goes well with any meal, be it Chicken Picatta or Porterhouse Steak.
